    Southeast Phuket

The most popular beach on this end of Phuket is Rawai. Due to the high number of visitors each year, the beach is crowded with resorts, restaurants, and entertainment establishments. Rawai beach also has boats for rent to take you to the nearby islands. Furthermore, the fishermen community that live in this area have a unique way-of-life. They spend their days either fishing or making handicrafts out of shells. The fresh fish that are caught are sold cheaply along the beach. Some will even sell you freshly grilled fish.

    South Phuket

If you make your way to the south of Phuket, you will reach Naiharn beach. This beach is close to Phromthep Peninsula. The beach does not stretch very far and resembles a gulf. You will notice that this beach has few visitors that consist mainly of foreigners. This is because of the lack of trees and shade in the area, but also because there is only one hotel on this end of the island. The water here is clear and relatively calm all year round except for during the monsoon season. If you want to tan in tranquility, head over to this beach.

    West Phuket

The west-end of Phuket has three beaches; Kata,Karon, and Patong. Kata beach has one of the best views on the island. Here you will find department stores, spas, tour operators, and luxury hotels.

Continue down the road another 3 kilometers and you will reach Karon beach. This beach is significantly wider than Kata beach. The highlights of this beach are the pine trees and sugar palms along the coast, the sand dunes, and ‘Wongwian Karon’which is a replica of the Karon tribe. If you’re a surfer, you should know that both Karon and Kata beach are hotspots for surfing as well as the location where the annual surfing competition takes place. You will also find many shops, hotels, bars, and tailors in this area. While driving to Karon beach, there is a viewpoint called the “3 Gulfs”. From here, you can see Kata Noi gulf, Kata gulf, and Karon gulf.

About 15 kilometers from Karon is Patong Beach; the most famous beach of all Phuket. Patong stretches for 3 kilometers. Unlike other beaches, Patong has colorful umbrellas and sailboats that make this area lively. Water sports such as jet skiing, wind surfing, and parasailing are common on this beach. Because of its popularity, Patong is the most animated place on Phuket especially when the sun goes down. You will find plenty of shops, 1-star to 5-star hotels, bars and clubs, and plenty more.

    Northwest Phuket

Keep driving around the island and you will eventually enter Sirinat National Park. The park consists of five different beaches; NaiyangMaikhaowSai KaewPa Chai Lane, and Naitorn Beach. Out of the five, the two most popular beaches to visit in the park are Naiyang and Naitorn, however, the majority of visitors are residents of Phuket. Thais prefer to picnic in the park rather than sunbathe. The highlight of Naiyang beach is the coral reef that is home to numerous colorful fish. Back when Phuket wasn’t as developed, the beaches around here were breeding grounds for sea turtles; you could see them come out of the water to lay eggs.

Phuket really is one of Thailand’s paradise islands. The sea is clear, the sand is white, and there are attractions to see, things to buy, and more. Because of the island’s many beaches, you can choose which one suits your holiday style; local beach, foreign, secluded, surfer, etc.

    • จุดเด่น:
    • The beaches of Phuket are one of the best in Thailand. The sea is clean and clear, and the sand is fine and soft. Each beach has its own characteristic and highlight(s).
    • จุดด้อย:
    • Although the beaches have plenty of parking space, there still isn’t enough because the tuk-tuks take up all the places.
