There are a handful of towns and cities in the provinces surrounding Bangkok that are getaway destinations for short 3-4day weekends. If you want to be with the trees instead of the sand and water, make your way to Khao Yai. From Bangkok, you’ll only have to drive 100 or so kilometers to get there.
