Situated among beautiful rows of classic Chino-Portuguese buildings in Soi Rommanee, Phuket 346 is a chic and modern guesthouse and art gallery that blend in very well with its surrounding.  It is a place for art lovers, visitors who need a break during their strolls in Phuket Old Town, and anyone who desire to spend a night in this charming neighborhood.  However, you might need to plan your trip in advance to secure the reservation, since rooms at Phuket 346 are very limited.

 

Phuket 346 is a guest house and art gallery.  Inspired by love in Chino-Portuguese architecture and art, two owners, Khun Surat and Mr. Carlos George Smith, add touch of warm hospitality and turn the charming century old shop-house building in Soi Rommanee to be a place for art lovers.  There are only 3 rooms available in Phuket 346.  However, all of them are clean, spacious, and well decorated with bright colors and hand-picked modern furniture.

Let’s look at special characteristics that we observed from each room in more details.  Starting from room number 3, which is at the front of the building.  Big windows in the room allow visitors to look at whole area of Soi Rommanee and its buildings in days and nights.  Moving to room number 4, which is located at the middle of the building.  The room features a private space with an armchair for you to comfortably sip a cup of coffee and read your favorite books by its big widows.

Room number 6, the last room, is at the back of the building.  Visitors can observe the open space at the middle of the building, which is one of unique characteristics of Chino-Portuguese building in Phuket Old Town, from its circular window.

Every room at Phuket 346 is decorated with black and white photographs that tell story of Phuket in the past.  Pillow cases at the rooms are made from local batik cloth, which is a famous painting and textile dyeing technique from southern part of Thailand.  Moreover, facilities such as air conditioners, cable TV, free wireless internet access, and water heater are provided at your comfort.

Phuket 346 serves Phuket’s local favorite such as Dim Sum or Khanom Jeen (Rice Noodle), together with tea and coffee forbreakfast.  Be sure to check with the front desk for today’s menu.

Phuket 346 remains several characteristics of charming Chino-Portuguese building in Phuket Old Town such as long hallway at the entrance and open space with pond at the middle of the building.  The guesthouse provides big sofa and armchair for hotel guests and art lovers to relax and mingle about art exhibitions.  Temporary art exhibitions at Phuket 346 usually last for 3 months, featuring masterpieces of Thais and foreign artists.

Even though there are only 3 rooms available at Phuket 346, but the guesthouse is never left alone and quite because it also has a coffee shop that offers bakery and refreshments on the first floor.  Moreover, hospitality of the owners and its staffs are really special that every time we come back here would make us feel like visiting old friends.

How to get there

Take Thep Kasattri 402 Road to Phuket Town, and then turn right at Thalang Road.  Turn right into Soi Rommanee.  Phuket 346 is in at the middle of the street.
